Special Recognition For Hanover Fire Chief

Special recognition for Hanover’s Fire Chief, Hanover Council has presented the Chief with the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal.

Fire Chief Jeff Dentinger calls it a true honour to be a part of the Hanover Fire Department for the past two decades.

He originally joined the Fire Department as a way to give back to his community.

Dentinger says at the time he never dreamed he would love it this much let alone become the fire chief.

Dentinger says a lot of positive changes have occurred within the firefighting industry over the last twenty years particularly in the area of firefighting safety and improved equipment and technology.

He says fire fighting safety is of the utmost importance and advancements in technology allows firefighters to do an even better job.

All in all, Dentinger says it has been a very positive experience serving on the Hanover Fire Department.

Dentinger adds that he couldn‘t ask for a better fire crew, saying they count on each other constantly both on and off the job.

The Hanover Fire Department now boast four members with over 20 years of experience with a few other members getting very close to the 20 year mark. 

Dentinger says the combination of experienced mixed with the younger generation makes for a very good fire team; an infusion of fresh ideas with the experience and know how to make those ideas happen.

The Hanover Fire Department is made up of 27 members.  254 of whom are firefighters and 2 that serve as auxilliary firefighters.
