A special meeting has been called July 25 in order to appoint Tom Raeburn as the town's new fire chief.
Raeburn is a deputy chief and current acting chief of the town's fire and rescue service, taking over for Jon Pegg, who left July 3 to accept a provincial appointment as Ontario’s chief of emergency management.
He has worked with the town's fire department for more than a decade.
Town staff deems it necessary and expedient to appoint a new chief by bylaw and had to call the special meeting to make the recommendation.
If approved, Raeburn would officially start his job on July 26.
The meeting is set to take place at town hall, 2101 Innisfil Beach Rd., at 5 p.m.
