The Halton Hills Fire Department is seeking part-time firefighters to work out of the Acton fire station on Churchill Road. Those selected will take part in fighting fires, performing rescues, administering first aid, dealing with hazardous materials, protecting property, and possibly being instrumental in saving lives.

Fire Chief Jon Rehill said the work is rewarding.

“Firefighting is a diverse and challenging position. Working in this field provides so many personal rewards and a great deal of satisfaction. I invite all qualified applicants to join our team,” said Rehill.

Potential applicants should live within six kilometres of the Acton fire station and have a Grade 12 diploma or the educational equivalent.

Deputy fire Chief Martin Mills said the key to success in firefighting is having a passion for helping the community.

“Being a firefighter requires dedication and commitment. Regardless of who you are or where you come from, being passionate about this work is what will bring you success. I’m very hopeful we will get a terrific response to our call out for recruits,” said Mills.
