What is the course?
This program has been designed in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to meet the needs of the Ontario fire service and the MTO Driver Certification Program (DCP). This program builds on NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I course concepts, with a focus on driving.
This program is recognized by the MTO as the educational component to obtaining SA to conduct licensing through the Registered Authority (RA).
This program will also satisfy the requirements of MTO, SA recertification. Evaluations will be conducted throughout the program, in accordance with the MTO Curriculum Standards.
In addition to the above, the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) is applying to become a DCP registered authority. This means that D Class Driver’s Licencing can be administered through the OAFC, and this can be achieved through the delivery of a new OAFC – DCP curriculum and testing through certified SA’s that are registered with the MTO through the OAFC.
The SA certification program will also assist Fire Departments with increasing the number of certified SA’s within their department with an approved DCP.
