Bargaining Workshop - Part I: Preparing for Bargaining - 9:00am to 12:00pm

This hands-on workshop will cover the fundamentals of bargaining including strategies, creating proposals, understanding your comparators, the bargaining process and the legal requirements for bargaining.

Bargaining Workshop - Part II: The Art of Bargaining - 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Bargaining is more of an art than a science. After understanding the fundamentals in part I, we will take you through the "Art of Bargaining" through an informative and engaging panel discussion.

Option 2: Managing in the Volunteer/Composite Fire Service Workshop

Are volunteers employees? Geared towards rural and composite Chiefs, this interactive session will explore this question in-depth, including the classification and definition of volunteer firefighters, compensation models, benefits and entitlements, WSIB reporting requirements and claims processes, Occupational Health and Safety applicability and obligations and unionization considerations.

The day will conclude with a Volunteer Recruitment and Retention discussion.
