Michael Myles Latoski

The family announces with sorrow his death at Hornepayne Community Hospital on November 4, 2023 at the age of 74 years. Beloved husband of Joanne Marie Latoski nee Resch and dearest father of Tara Bovenkamp (Mike) of Grimsby, and Christopher Latoski (Leanne) of Whitby. Adored Grandpa of Andrew, Natalie, Jane, Allison, and Samuel.

He is survived by his 4 brothers and sisters-in-law : John Latoski (Carol-Ann) of Barrie, Lorne Latoski (Pat) of North Bay, Terry Latoski (Sherry) of Hornepayne, and Chris Latoski (Monica) of Hinton, AB.

Pre-deceased by his parents: Paul Michael Latoski, and Patricia Eleanor Latoski nee Johnson.

Mike (Fonzie) spent his years working as a Locomotive Engineer for CN and VIA Rail. He served his community in a number of volunteer roles including Volunteer Fire Chief, the Hornepayne Masonic Lodge, Ice Maker at the Hornepayne Curling Club, Trail Groomer for the Hornepayne Snowbears Snowmobile Club, Occasional Sanitation Driver for the Township of Hornepayne, and Union Representative for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Mike lived every day to the fullest and fought his illness fiercely. He enjoyed visits with family and friends. He was blessed with a large family of brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and loved to spend time chatting, playing cards and creating memories. He enjoyed his cottage, the moose hunt, fishing and serving his community.

The family would like to thank all of Mike’s extended family and friends for their continued love and support during his illness.

A celebration of life will take place next May 2024 (Victoria Day Weekend) in Hornepayne.
